COVID-19

Update on Coronavirus

Following the abandonment of most Covid-19 (Coronavirus) public health measures in the UK we are following guidance from the World Health Organization regarding Covid-19. We will continue with the following procedures to ensure your health and safety during your physiotherapy appointment:

1.     We will contact you prior to your appointment to undertake a risk assessment and check that you are free of cold or flu symptoms.

2.     We are cancelling all appointments where our clients are feeling unwell in any way.

3.     If our physiotherapists begin to experience any cold or flu like symptoms they will cancel your appointment, arrange appropriate testing and self-isolate appropriately.

4.     Our treatment room, gym equipment and waiting area are being disinfected with a bleach solution prior to and following each client we see. This includes the treatment bed, walls, doors, door frames, light switches, door handles and taps.

5.     We have modified our diaries to ensure that there is at least five minutes between our clients. This prevents client to client contact and allows us to fully ventilate the treatment room and clean all surfaces as above.

6. In addition to keeping external windows open in our treatment rooms to provide fresh air ventilation, we are using an air purifier with Carbon filter and True HEPA filter which removes 99.99% of particulates and neutralises virus particles, running continuously cleaning the air in our treatment room 4-8x each hour.

7.     We are a single treatment room physiotherapy clinic and we don’t have a communal waiting area. This prevents client to client contact.

8.     Your physiotherapist will be wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) namely single use medical examination gloves, a protective apron, sealed elastometric P3 face mask.

9.     On removal of disposable PPE our physiotherapists are washing their hands thoroughly, in line with normal practice.

10.  All of our physiotherapists are trained in infection control procedures and have previous experience working in ICU and respiratory medicine.

Video Consultation Physiotherapy

In addition to in-clinic appointments, North London Physiotherapy are now offering video consultation physiotherapy using secure, encrypted video to get a history of your pain or injury, assess movement and posture, instruct on special tests and give a diagnosis. We then give specific advice, demonstrate self-mobilising techniques and appropriate exercises.

As well as self-paying clients, these sessions are covered by Bupa, Aviva, W.P.A and Cigna.

If you do have a physiotherapy appointment scheduled and you or a member of your household are feeling unwell please contact us to cancel your physiotherapy session. There will be no charge.

If you or a household member have ‘flu or ‘flu like symptoms, (fever of >38°C or history of fever plus two or more symptoms of cough or other respiratory symptoms, chills, sore throat, headache, muscle aches) you should cancel your physiotherapy appointment and not attend the clinic.

You should seek advice about symptom relief, if necessary, in the first instance from the NHS.UK website. Do not attend your pharmacy or GP practice.

If our physiotherapists or their family develop flu or flu like symptoms then they will follow an appropriate period of self-isolation at home and we will contact you to cancel your physiotherapy sessions during this period.

Thank you for your co-operation.
